The Benefits of an Insurance Broker

When shopping for insurance, it's good to compare your options to ensure you're getting the best coverage at the best rate. That's where an OTIP insurance broker can help. We shop the market and work on your behalf to help you find the right coverage to suit your needs. We also act as your advocate in the unfortunate event that you need help filing a claim.

OTIP is a not-for-profit

Unlike other brokers, we are a not-for-profit organization that gives back to our community of educators. 

OTIP is governed by a Board of Trustees. The board is comprised of members from Ontario's four education affiliates including the Association des enseignantes et des enseignants franco-ontariens (AEFO), the Elementary Teachers' Federation of Ontario (EFTO), the Ontario English Catholic Teachers' Association (OECTA) and the Ontario Secondary School Teachers' Federation (OSSTF/FEESO).

Giving back to our members and our community

As a not-for-profit, any proceeds that we generate are funnelled directly back into our community to fund valuable member-support programs. Charity is a big part of our efforts. We work hard to honour our members by supporting the projects that are making a difference in our schools and community.

Some of the ways we give back include:

  • A bursary program that provides 12 scholarships (valued at $1,500 each) to help our members and their family through post-secondary education.
  • The annual OTIP Teaching Awards honouring outstanding teachers.
  • The Charity Golf Classic that has raised over $1.7 million for various charities including the Paediatric Advanced Care Team at SickKids Hospital and Nutrition for Learning.
  • Sponsorship of school projects led by our members. We're excited to donate $5,000 to four amazing projects in 2017!

Insurance is a necessary part of life, but we know it's not the only part. That is why we work hard to advocate for our members and support them in their education initiatives.
